Nominated By Governor, Gibran Claims To Be Obliging In The Results Of His Depositary Work
Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka admits that he has more ambitions in the results of his work than in his position was nominated as governor, because according to him the development program can be directly felt by the community. Gibran conveyed this before hundreds of students from Sebelas Maret University (UNS) at the Demi Indonesia Goes to Campus event at the UNS Auditorium, Surakarta, Central Java, Wednesday. Therefore, if asked about his political steps in the future, then Gibran admitted that he did not know for sure. "If people want me to stay in Solo, yes I am in Solo. If the work is not good, then I can go back to old work. Nothing to lose, according to the wishes of the residents," said Gibran, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 15. Regarding the condition of Surakarta City, according to Gibran, the current situation in the city is already better than before. "The point is, what was done together last year was correct. Many events, physical development boosts that can be felt directly by the community," he added. Meanwhile, on the same occasion, UNS Chancellor Jamal Wiwoho appreciated Gibran's performance as Mayor of Surakarta. "As the mayor of Surakarta, Solo is not only managed in a normal way. Meloncat, rolling high into space. In fact, from 2019 with a growth rate minus to 6.2 percent at this time, that's extraordinary," said Jamal. According to Jamal, Surakarta City which only consists of five sub-districts is a small area when compared to other areas around it. "It's like Solo like Singapore, around one hour is over. Imagine with Wonogiri, which is not finished for a day alone," he added.
Therefore, he said the policies taken by the Surakarta City Government must be different. "For example, empowerment of MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises). I agree with events every Saturday and Sunday. That way, MSMEs move, hotels move, transport movement. I also strongly agree with many young leaders in Indonesia. In this case, UNS prepares the best cadres," said Jamal.
