Friday, Rizieq Shihab And Hanif Alatas Examined For Cases Of Obstructing The COVID-19 Task Force At UMMI Hospital

JAKARTA - Investigators at the Directorate of General Crimes, Bareskrim Polri, have scheduled investigations of 3 suspects in suspected cases of obstructing the work of the COVID-19 Task Force at UMMI Hospital, Bogor, on Friday, January 15.

"The plan is for Friday (the three suspects to be investigated)," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andri Rian, to reporters, Tuesday, January 12.

After this examination process, investigators will determine whether the suspects include Rizieq Shihab, Hanif Alatas, and doctor Andi Tatat, whether they will be detained or not.

"The plan is that (detention will be discussed after the examination)," said Andi.

Previously, Rizieq Shihab, Hanif Alatas, and the President Director (Dirut) of Ummi Hospital, doctor Andi Tatat, were named suspects in a case suspected of obstructing the work of the COVID-19 Task Force.

"Yes, the three of them have been named as suspects," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andi Rian, to VOI, Monday, January 11.

The determination of the three suspects, said Andi, was based on their case titles. Investigators consider them to have committed a criminal act so that their status is upgraded from witness to suspect.

"What is certain is that investigators already have at least 2 pieces of evidence to determine them as suspects," he said.

With the determination of these suspects, they were charged with Article 14 paragraph 1 and 2 of Law number 4 of 1984 concerning Disease Outbreaks, Article 216 of the Criminal Code, and Articles 14 and 15 of Law number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulations.

This case began when the Bogor City Ummi Hospital was reported to the police because it was considered to be blocking the work of the COVID-19 Task Force team. The hospital is said to have not provided a complete explanation of Rizieq Shihab's COVID-19 swab examination.

The report is registered with the number LP / 650 / XI / 2020 / JBR / Bogor City Police, dated November 28, 2020, made by the COVID-19 Task Force.

However, the President Director of Ummi Hospital Andi Tatat denied that Rizieq Shihab and his family had fled from the hospital. Rizieq is said to have returned home at the request of his family.
