Incorrect Stay Permit, Stand-up Comedy from Russia Deported After Performing in Bali

DENPASAR- TPI Denpasar Class I Immigration Office, Bali, arrested a Russian citizen, Semen Shcherbakov (20), who works as a comedian.

This Russian foreigner was arrested on Wednesday, March 8 by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) at the Immigration Class I TPI Denpasar, Bali.

"A foreigner was found who works as a standup comedy artist in Bali and the information has been spread via social media accounts", TPI Denpasar Class I Immigration Office Head Tedy Riyandi, Tuesday, March 14.

The Denpasar immigration intelligence team visited the location of the stand-up comedy event and immediately checked Semen's immigration documents. This foreigner abused his immigration residence permit by taking a job or accepting a job through stand-up comedy.

"He admitted that while he was in Bali on several occasions he appeared at an event as a filler for stand-up comedy", he added.

The foreigner entered Bali with a residence permit for a socio-cultural visit visa or B211 with a validity period from March 7 to May 5 2023. So far he has lived in Canggu, Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency.

"The person concerned, we will also deport this evening and we will propose a countermeasure for the person concerned", he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Section Iqbal Rifai said that during the interrogation Semen did not admit that he was a comic.

"So the person concerned during the interrogation did not admit that he wanted to do standup comedy activities. However, from the evidence we got, they got brochures for the show and were caught red-handed wanting to do a show", he said.

"Whatever the information given by the person concerned, even if the person concerned does not admit it, should be suspected that the person concerned has committed an immigration stay permit violation. The person concerned is a stand-up comedy in Russia", he said.

Russian Caucasians are subject to Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6, 2011 concerning Immigration.

"The foreign national has prepared a return ticket back to his country so that the Immigration Office Class I TPI Denpasar takes deportation to his country of origin", said Tedy.
