Rp230 Million Prepared By Bangka Regency Government To Replace 23 Dead Cows Affected By FMD
KOBA - Central Bangka Regency Government, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, replaced 23 cows of residents who died due to exposure to verbal and nail disease (PMK).
"The livestock animals of residents who died due to being attacked by PMK, we will replace them in the form of money," said Head of the Agriculture and Food Security Service of Central Bangka Regency Sajidin in Koba, as reported by ANTARA Tuesday, March 14.
Sajidin explained that the people's cattle replacement funds that died due to PMK were sourced from the state budget through the relevant ministries.
"One cow that died was replaced with money worth Rp. 10 million and a goat of Rp. 1.5 million per head," he said.
The Department of Agriculture and Food Security of Central Bangka has proposed 23 cows that died due to PMK to be replaced with a total amount of Rp230 million.
Sajidin said that up to now, 3,697 cows have been vaccinated against PMK for doses one and two or reaching 58.4 percent of the total cattle population.
"This PMK is a strategic disease that attacks livestock, including cows, buffalo, goats, sheep and pigs," he said.
Sajidin said PMK in livestock in the area began to be detected in May 2022 and recorded 1,320 cows affected by PMK.
"Of the 1,320 cows infected with PMK, 1,266 were successfully cured, 27 cows were declared dead and 27 were conditionally cut," he said.
