DKI Ready To Vaccinate COVID-19 January 14, Total 119 Thousand Health Workers Vaccinated

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria stated that DKI Jakarta is ready to start the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination on Thursday, January 14, which will simultaneously be carried out throughout Indonesia.

"Preparation, we have said that we are ready," said Riza at the Jakarta City Hall as quoted by Antara, Monday, January 11.

The DKI Jakarta government, said Riza, in the first stage has received 39,200 doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine. In the initial stage, 119,145 health workers will be gradually injected with vaccines.

Riza asked the public not to be afraid or worried about being injected with the COVID-19 vaccine, especially since officials will also be the first to be injected with the vaccine, such as the president, governors, regents and mayors.

"Let us work together to succeed the COVID-19 vaccination program. Vaccinations will be carried out at Puskesmas to hospitals in Jakarta and prioritizing health personnel first," he said.

Chairman of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Penny Lukito gave an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) permit for the COVID-19 Sinovac vaccine.

"Today Monday, January 11, 2021, BPOM has approved the first use of the COVID-19 vaccine for the corona vaccine produced by Sinovac in collaboration with Bio Farma," said Penny.

The Sinovac vaccine has also been declared halal by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) some time ago, so the vaccination will begin on Wednesday, January 13, according to the government's plan.
