900 Police Personnel Deployed To Watch Rizieq Shihab's Preliminary Judgment Session
JAKARTA - As many as 900 police personnel will be alerted to the scheme to secure Rizieq Shihab's pretrial trial at the South Jakarta District Court. The trial with the verdict agenda will be held tomorrow.
"So tomorrow it is hoped that there will be no crowds. Tomorrow at least 900 personnel," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Azis Andriansyah, to reporters, Monday, January 11.
The hundreds of members are joint personnel from the South Jakarta Metro Police and Polda Metro Jaya. Later, these hundreds of personnel will be stationed around the Southern District Court.
Azis also appealed to Rizieq Shihab's sympathizers not to congregate if they wanted to be present to oversee the trial. This is because the condition of the spread of COVID-19 is currently increasingly massive.
"His appeal is to first follow the applicable legal rules, participate in the existing trial process, follow the existing constitutional pathway process. Then we both have the responsibility to suppress the spread of COVID-19, so avoid crowds," he said.
Rizieq Shihab submitted a pretrial application to challenge the determination of the suspect in the case of crowds and violations of health protocols (prokes). Rizieq Shihab's pretrial lawsuit has been registered with number 150 / Pid.Pra / 2020 / PN South Jakarta, dated December 15.
This lawsuit relates to Rizieq Shihab, who was named a suspect in the case of alleged crowd and health protocol violations, on Thursday, December 10. Not only Rizieq, in that case, the police also named five other suspects.
Rizieq was charged with Articles 160 of the Criminal Code and 216 of the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, the other suspect was charged with Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine. Rizieq has been detained since 12 December. Rizieq is currently in a drug detention cell at Polda Metro Jaya.
