Starting 2024, The Latest Porsche EV Arrives In Consumer's Hands
JAKARTA - In February last year, Porsche announced its flagship SUV electric car, Porsche Cayenne, was being developed into an electric vehicle. At the time, Porsche said Cayenne would be part of the company's long-term strategy to produce more electric cars.
Well, after a lot of rumors about the development, Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche called their ambitious project for electric cars being seriously worked on. This was revealed in the Annual Press Conference 2023 today, March 13.
We will continue to expand the product portfolio with the concept of a new sports car. We will also continue to focus on limited editions and accommodate the wishes and lifestyles of our customers more than we have done, exceeding their expectations," he said in a media release on Porsche's website.
The development of Cayenne in 2023 will experience the widest update in Porsche's history. The increase in Cayene's third generation model includes three more sophisticated plug-in hybrid variants with a longer distance. In addition, Cayenne will use a new chassis that is claimed to have wider capabilities, offset performance on Porsche's typical roads, convenience in long-distance travel, and off-road capabilities.
Not only with Cayenne, but Blume also plans to expand its product portfolio with an EV SUV positioned over Cayenne. The concept of this new vehicle is designed to offer a strong performance and auto-driving function. It will be based on the SSP Sport platform developed by Porsche.
The presence of a larger EV car than Cayenne, comes in response to increasingly profitable markets, especially China and the United States, Blume explained.
In that statement, the Porsche Macan EV is scheduled to arrive at buyers' homes by 2024. The 718 all-electrics are planned for the middle of the decade.
In the medium term, all types of Porsche cars will only be available as EV models in accordance with Porsche's goal of presenting more than 80 percent of its new vehicles as an all-electric model by 2030.
