Vice President: 2024 Election Don't Be A Reason Not To Pay Taxes
JAKARTA - The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin reminded that the upcoming 2024 General Election (Pemilu) should not interfere with government programs. Moreover, the tax issues that have been discussed lately. He hopes that the community will continue to obey and support government programs.
"The election should not be the cause of the reduction in taxes, and also the issue of cases that occur in taxation. Compliance with taxes, that's part of our development is financed by the proceeds of taxes, so don't let this tax also be disrupted. Then the financing of the program is also among others the result of taxation, so it must be done," said Ma'ruf Amin to reporters at Astor Ballroom, South Jakarta, Monday, March 13.
Ma'ruf Amin hopes that government programs such as stunting and extreme poverty will not be disturbed by the existence of elections.
"Don't let the government program be disrupted by the election," he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked regional heads and legislature to comply with tax obligations. So that there is a big wave for the public in compliance with paying taxes.
"If it can be made transparent, later the Ministry of Taxation can also convey it. I repeat, the Director General of Taxes, the Ministry of Finance can convey which candidates have reported (tax reports), which candidates have not reported yet," he concluded.
