Ash Rain Due To Mount Merapi's Eruption, Students Of Elementary School 2 Tlogolele Boyolali Village Study As Usual
BOYOLALI - Dozens of students from Public Elementary School (SDN) 2 in Tlogolele Village, Selo District, Boyolali Regency, Central Java, are continuing to carry out teaching and learning activities as usual after the ashfall caused by the eruption of Mount Merapi.
The head of SDN 2 Tlogolele Nur Kholiq said that there was still volcanic ash in the school environment due to the eruption of Merapi, but teaching and learning activities were still being carried out.
"Teachers and students who enter face-to-face schools wear masks to protect themselves from dust and rain of Mount Merapi volcanic ash," he explained in the Tlogolele 2 SDN environment, Antara, Monday, March 13.
SDN 2 Tlogolele school is located on the highlands of the slopes of Mount Merapi and is about 5 kilometers from the summit.
He conveyed that out of a total of 117 students at SDN 2 Tlogolele who took part in teaching-learning activities at the school, only 77 students. Meanwhile, around 40 students study from home online.
Students who enter the school are in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. They take part in trying out activities. Meanwhile, grade 1 and 2 students study from home online.
"So students don't have school holidays," he explained.
Based on a report from the Geological Disaster Technology Investigation and Development Center (BPPTKG), on March 11-12 2023, Mount Merapi launched hot clouds towards Bebeng River. Until now, Monday 13 March 2023, there have been 60 incidents of hot clouds falling on the mountain.
The public is advised not to carry out any activity in potentially hazardous areas. The public is also advised to anticipate disturbances caused by volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Merapi, and be aware of the danger of lava, especially when it rains in the area of Mount Merapi.

According to the Head of Tlogolele Selo Ngadi Village, the eruption of Mount Merapi was heard from Tlogolele Village on Saturday (11/3) at around 12.15 WIB, and about 30 minutes later there was quite dense ash rain.
