Ganjar Pranowo Leads Prayers For Interfaith Leaders For Residents Around Mount Merapi
SOKOHARJO - Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo leads prayers with religious leaders and religious instructors for the safety and health of residents around Mount Merapi after the eruption.
Ganjar is still monitoring the development of the situation around Merapi. Currently, Merapi is still on standby despite several hot cloud bursts that still appear.
The moment occurred when Ganjar attended the opening of the Working Meeting of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of Central Java Province at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Solo Baru, Sukoharjo Regency, Sunday (12/3/2023). At that time, Ganjar had the opportunity to give a speech and direction to the participants present.
In the middle of his speech, Ganjar displayed a background image of the eruption of Mount Merapi that had occurred since Saturday (11/3/2023). After that, Ganjar invited all the meeting participants to pray for residents around Mount Merapi.
"I ask for a moment before we start, let's pray according to our respective religions and beliefs. Hopefully, our brothers around Merapi will be given convenience, given health, and hopefully all of them will be given safety, because this eruption is certainly part of the natural process. However, let's pray for our brothers and sisters who are there," said Ganjar before inviting the audience to start praying.
Participants of the event consisting of religious leaders, religious counselors, heads of regional offices of the Ministry of Religion throughout Central Java and the ranks of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of Central Java immediately looked down. They seem solemn in praying for the safety of residents around Mount Merapi.
"Of course, because today we are all on alert for Merapi. While gathering figures from many religions, we pray for the people around Merapi, so that they are given strength. Then Merapi evolved according to her circumcision and we are all on standby and the important thing is to be safe," said Ganjar when met after the event.
Ganjar said the status of Mount Merapi until Sunday (12/3/2023) afternoon was still at the alert level. However, monitoring continues to be carried out to anticipate an increase in eruption activity.
Meanwhile, the resilience and vigilance of the community around Mount Merapi is also quite good so that the monitoring process can be carried out properly.
"Everyone is still on standby but we are monitoring continuously. Since yesterday I have received continuous information and thank God the people from the resilient side are good there. However, we are on standby," he said.
In addition, various preparations have also been made since the eruption occurred. The disaster response team consisting of BPBD, SAR, and volunteers was immediately deployed to points affected by the eruption. Likewise with logistical readiness and refugee camps.
"Logistics, masks are prepared, then refugee camps are prepared even though no one has evacuated while we continue to monitor the data. So the affairs of the vocalists, from the Geological Agency, BMKG BPBD, Regional Government, yes everything is ready," said Ganjar Pranowo.
