Mount Merapi Eruption, Hot Clouds Reported To Magelang Regency

Some areas of Magelang Regency, Central Java, were affected by ash rain from the hot cloud avalanche (APG) of Mount Merapi, on Saturday, March 10. Mount Merapi Monitoring officers at Babadan Yulianto Post in Magelang, Saturday, said hot clouds of avalanches occurred at 12.12 WIB. He said several areas were affected by ash rain, namely Dukun District, Sawangan, and parts of Selo District, Boyolali Regency. Yulianto mentioned a number of villages that had reported ash rain, including Paten, Keningar, Mangunsuko, Dukun, and Sengi for the Magelang Regency area. Then for Boyolali area, namely Tlogolele, Klakah, Wonolelo, and Krogowanan. "The thickness of the ash is not so thick because it was swept away by the wind," he said. He explained that this avalanche hot cloud was caused by a lava dome in part of the landslide.

In general, he said, the ash rain of Mount Merapi did not interfere with community activities. Mount Merapi on the border of Central Java Province and Yogyakarta Special Region is currently on standby.
