PKS Asks Democrats Not To Rush To Simpulse AHY More Promising To Be Anies' Vice Presidential Candidate Than Khofifah

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has asked the Democratic Party not to rush to conclude that its General Chair, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), is more promising to become a candidate for vice president (cawapres) accompanying Anies Baswedan than the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

PKS assessed that parties that are members of the Change Coalition must sit together regarding the determination of the Vice President Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election.

"In principle, we can sit back in a relaxed manner, no need to rush. Look for the right momentum and timing," said PKS spokesman Muhammad Kholid, to reporters, Saturday, March 11.

According to PKS, continued Kholid, Anies as a presidential reading must have rational calculations to determine his own companion. Moreover, he said, the former governor of DKI Jakarta already has the criteria for vice president.

"Regarding whether it's AHY or Khofifah, we'll see together later, of course, Mr. Anies will have a rational and smart calculation. So that the mixed presidential and vice presidential candidates are the most potential to win the 2024 presidential election," explained Kholid.

Kholid added, PKS hopes that Anies' vice presidential candidate will have a big contribution in winning the upcoming election. He also hopes that PKS, Democrats and NasDem in the Change Coalition will remain solid and continue to prioritize togetherness in facing the 2024 presidential election.

"We want to win together, not just fight together," said Kholid.

Previously, the Chairman of the Bappilu Democrat Party Andi Arief considered the AHY pair to be more promising than Anies and Khofifah. Because according to him, the coverage of the 2024 presidential election is national, not just a regional or geographical basis.

"So it is not the presidential election that is separated between the East Java election and the elections throughout Indonesia, so it is a mistake to think," Andi Arief told reporters, Thursday, March 9.

Andi assessed that Khofifah's electability was still far behind AHY. Therefore, according to him, the Anies-AHY pair is more promising than other figures.

"Khofifah has potential, but that based on the survey she becomes potentialless. Look at the CAwapres survey or the presidential candidate is very far below AHY. (Survey) which is also paired, Anies-AHY and Anies-Khofifah, Anies-AHY is more likely to have quantitative data," concluded Andi.
