Discourse On Ganjar's Vice Presidential Candidate, Dasco: Prabowo's Mutlak Candidate For Gerindra

JAKARTA - The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP Sufmi Dasco Ahmad emphasized that Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto was a presidential candidate (candidate) in the 2024 election which was promoted by the party. "We affirm that Prabowo Subianto is a candidate for president of the Gerindra Party in the 2024 election. The decision has been confirmed in the Gerindra Party's Rapimnas (National Leadership Meeting)," said Dasco as quoted by ANTARA, March 10. Dasco said that he responded to the views of a number of parties who considered Prabowo suitable to be a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) paired with Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election. According to him, the assessment that Prabowo is more suitable as a vice presidential candidate for Ganjar is a framing (framing) of political consultants. "I think it is a framing created by consultants who combine Pak Prabowo with Pak Ganjar. However, it is clear in our party, Gerindra Party, the mandate of rapimnas nominated Pak Prabowo as a presidential candidate, not as a vice presidential candidate," he said. Dasco asked all Gerindra Party cadres to continue to struggle to make Prabowo Subianto president in 2024. November 25, 2023.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the elections that meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election of members of the DPR. Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It is also possible that candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
