Tottenham's Defeat In The Champions League Makes Conte Doubt His Future: Maybe He Can Be Fired Early

JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte's poor record in the Champions League resumed after his team was removed from AC Milan. This situation made Conte pessimistic about his own future.

Spurs only drew 0-0 against AC Milan in the second leg of the last 16 of the 2022/2023 Champions League on Thursday, March 9 in the morning WIB. The result threw Harry Kane and his friends from the hunt for the Big Ear trophy.

This result leaves Conte without an impressive record in the Champions League. Evidently in six Champions League seasons with Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Tottenham, this Italian man has only made it to the quarter-finals once.

Given Conte's contract which will expire in June, this failure is just like the beginning of the end of an era of travel. The manager even looks pessimistic about the continuation of his fate in the team.

"I continue to work, I have a contract with Tottenham. I respect the contract. At the end of the season, an assessment will be made with the club in the calmest way," he said.

"Let's see how this season ends. Maybe they can fire me early. Maybe the expectations are higher and maybe disappointed," Conte said.

Although he is not sure about his fate after this, Conte is trying to appear professional by continuing to try to give his best in guarding the team.

"The important thing for a coach is to try to work and improve standards. This year we are struggling to raise standards," explained the manager.
