Tangerang UMN Building Glass Broken, 3 Students And 1 Lecturer Injured

TANGERANG As many as four people were injured due to the broken glass of the Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) building, Tangerang. The incident was reported to have occurred on Wednesday, March 8 at 12.14 WIB. Public Relations of UMN, Patricia Valencia confirmed the incident.

The broken glass hit several students and lecturers who were in the canteen of the 1st Floor of Building C. There were four students and one injured lecturer who had been taken to the Carolus Gading Hospital Hospital Serpong for treatment," Valencia said in a statement, Thursday, March 9.

Valencia said, of the four victims who were treated at Carolus Gading Serpong Hospital, Tangerang, three of them had been allowed to go home.

"3 students and 1 lecturer have been allowed to go home. Meanwhile, 1 student still needs to be hospitalized because he has a head injury," he said.

Furthermore, said Valencia, the UMN Building Management Team has investigated the cause of the broken glass fence. CCTV on the 7th floor of the building C shows no activity around the broken glass.

Therefore, temporary suspicions occurred due to changing weather factors, causing cracks in the glass or other causes.

"After this incident, the Building Management team will implement a solution by replacing the glass fence with other materials that are less easily broken. In the meantime, nets above the canteen below the stairs will be installed to avoid the risk of similar incidents," he said.

On the occasion, the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Ika Yanuarti, apologized for the incident that occurred in his place. He said he would bear all the treatment of all victims.

"A sense of concern, and the commitment of UMN to bear all medical expenses to recover," he concluded.
