Observer Regrets Hate For Rafael Alun Has A Boycott Of Tax Payment
JAKARTA - Tax observer from the Center for Indonesia Taxation Analysis (CITA) Fajry Akbar considers it inappropriate to express disappointment against former Directorate General of Taxes Rafael Alun Trisambodo by taking a boycott of paying taxes.
"Tax revenue is very important for the country because taxes provide many benefits for development," said Fajry, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 8.
He explained that the tax money paid by the Indonesian people was channeled to pay the salaries of teachers, soldiers, and other public servants.
In addition, the tax money is also used for subsidies for low-income groups, providing social assistance, and building various infrastructures for the people.
Therefore, according to Fajry, the benefits of paying taxes have been clearly displayed.
He regretted that people who took part in the boycott movement paid taxes to express disappointment with the case that ensnared former tax official Rafael Alun Trisambodo.
Fajry said paying taxes is an obligation of life as a citizen and this is a consequence as an Indonesian citizen. Disappointment can be channeled in other ways, such as encouraging transparency.
"The public can encourage bureaucratic improvements within the DGT," said Fajry.
Rafael has complied with the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to provide clarification regarding the State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN).
The name Rafael Alun Trisambodo became public attention after his son, Mario Dandy Satrio (MDS), became a suspect in the case of mistreatment of Cristalino David Ozora who is the son of the Central Executive of the Ansor Youth Movement Jonathan Latumahina.
