The Prima Party Is Ready To Revoke The Lawsuit To Postpone Elections To The KPU As Long As It Can Participate In The 2024 General Election

JAKARTA - Chairman of the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (Prima) Agus Jabo Priyono said his party was willing to withdraw the fifth point of the lawsuit against the General Election Commission (KPU) to repeat the stages of the 2024 General Election for 2 years 4 months 7, provided that his party could participate in the 2024 General Election."There is no problem," Agus said in the Legislation Forum with the theme 'Using the Constitution in the Election Court System' in the Senayan Parliament Complex Room, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, March 8.Jabo emphasized that the reason for filing a lawsuit with the Central Jakarta District Court was because the KPU was considered to have committed an unlawful act, namely acting unprofessionally during administrative verification of the Prima Party so that his party failed to participate in the 2024 General Election."That is not a request for election dispute, this must be understood. Because we know that the competence of the district court does not exist to try out election disputes. We apply for unlawful acts," he said. For this reason, Agus clarified that the Prima Party did not bring a political agenda to postpone the election, but what his party wanted was to participate in the 2024 election contestation."We are only looking for the rights as citizens who want to do politics, build political parties so that they can participate in elections, that's all, and our track friends can actually campaign to say that the postponement of elections is unconstitutional," he explained.Previously, Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Taufik Basari, proposed a middle ground as a solution so that the problems between the Prima Party and the KPU would not shift to postpone the election. If you have space, he said, the KPU can re-examine the data that has been submitted by the Prima Party, as the Prima Party wants its political rights to be restored to be a participant in the 2024 General Election."So if the evidence is strong and proven, Bawaslu also said that there was indeed an error there. So what the KPU must do is just recover it," he added.Meanwhile, he continued, the Prima Party could withdraw the fifth point in its lawsuit asking the KPU to repeat the stages of the 2024 General Election for 2 years 4 months 7."This is assumptions, when, for example, this is an appeal, there is an appeal memory, there is a counter memorandum of appeal, for example, even though it is not mandatory, right there if necessary to confirm it too, ‘ We state that we no longer urge or ask for the petitum number five’," said Taufik Basari.
