YouTube Updates Advertising Guidelines For The Use Of Rude Words

JAKARTA - Last November, YouTube shared a series of claritys for content policies and guidelines suitable for advertisers, to make it easier for creators to monetize their content.

Currently, YouTube is implementing a policy where creators who use dirty words in videos in the first 8 seconds will not be able to earn advertising revenue. However, many creators have complained that this approach turned out to be tighter than what they thought.

Therefore, YouTube updated its guidelines on Inappropriate language' to all creators. The use of moderate or strong disrespectful words at any time in the video now meets the requirements for a green icon, indicating that the video is safe.

Furthermore, creators who use more powerful dirty words such as F-words in the first 7 seconds of the video, and are carried out repeatedly, will receive limited advertisements. Likewise with the use of disrespectful, medium or strong words, which are used repeatedly.

Furthermore, YouTube also clarifies its rules about dirty words in video background music that initially did not allow creators to earn advertising income at all. Now, background music, intro and outro that contain harsh words will be allowed. Creators will be able to earn full advertising revenue.

Still the same as the previous policy, the use of any indecent words in the title and thumbnail will still be demonetized and unable to carry out advertisements. All of these new policies have come into effect from Tuesday, March 7.
