Reflecting On Mario Dandy's Case: Children Need To Get An Understanding Of The Value And Guidance Of The Law In Schools
JAKARTA The rise of legal cases involving children has attracted the attention of many parties. In fact, several cases of abuse, rape, and other criminal acts that have recently occurred involve the status of children in them.
Head of the National Legal Development Agency (BPHN) Widodo Ekatjahjana revealed that children from the beginning of their education should have been provided with legal guidance in addition to Pancasila values that teach harmony and peace in diversity.
"Children need to be given an understanding of the values of law and order, including an understanding of legal sanctions and their impact if imposed on those who violate the law. And if understanding the impact of legal sanctions is given properly and appropriately to children in schools, then it can prevent children from committing crimes and culture of violence in society," Widodo said in an official statement, Wednesday, March 8.
As is known, Mario Dandy's case of abuse involved two children at once, AG (female) and D (male). D is a victim of violence by the son of a South Jakarta tax official. Meanwhile, AG is Mario Dandy's lover who is suspected of being the trigger for the persecution.
Mario and one of his colleagues, Shane Lukas, have become suspects and were charged with heavy articles. AG too, initially as a witness, turned into a perpetrator. AG was charged with multiple articles. However, because AG is still a minor, has the status of a child, AG is treated specifically during the legal process.
