Cianjur Police Arrest 16 Drug Traffickers, Seize 36.51 Grams Of Marijuana And 1,614 Illegal Drugs

CIANJUR - Cianjur Police, West Java, arrested 16 suspects of various types of narcotics dealers over the past two months, confiscated 167.12 grams of methamphetamine, 36.51 grams of marijuana and 1,614 pills of illegal drugs.Cianjur Police Chief, AKBP Doni Hermawan said dozens of suspects were arrested in a number of areas from north to south of Cianjur, such as Cipanas, Pacet, Cugenang, Cianjur, Cibeber and Cidaun sub-districts."It was recorded that during January to February, there were 10 drug cases that had been handled with 16 suspects who were arrested, they circulated various types of narcotics such as methamphetamine, marijuana and illegal drugs," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Tuesday, March 7.Doni explained that various modes of tricking officers were carried out by the suspect, starting from ordering online, to storing the illicit goods at one point according to an agreement with the buyer, so that there was no face-to-face contact between the dealer and the user.However, after the development was carried out, officers managed to secure dozens of suspected drug dealers as well as drug abusers in a number of places in Cianjur along with evidence of narcotics of various brands of methamphetamine, marijuana, and illegal drugs."The suspect will be charged with multiple articles, for narcotics cases Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 with a minimum penalty of 5 years in prison for a maximum of 12 years in prison," he said.Meanwhile, the sale and purchase of narcotics is subject to Article 114 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 Paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 with a minimum penalty of 5 years in prison and a maximum of 12 years in prison."We urge residents in various sub-districts in Cianjur to participate in narrowing the space for narcotics dealers by reporting to the police when they see suspicious activities in the area where they live," said Cianjur Police Chief.
