2023 U-20 Asian Cup: Draw Against Uzbekistan, Indonesian Team Failed To Quarter Finals
JAKARTA The Indonesian U-20 national team was confirmed to have stopped in the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup group stage. That was after only one point in the last match of the preliminary round against Uzbekistan.
Shin Tae Yong's squad match against the home team in Group A took place at Istiqlol Stadium, Fergana, Tuesday, March 7, 2023 evening WIB. Both teams closed this match with a score of the same magnitude 0-0.
This result made Indonesia's dream of reaching the quarter-finals fail. The reason is, Garuda Muda only finished third in the group's final standings, behind Uzbekistan and Iraq.
Indonesia has a total of four points from three group matches. Previously, three points were secured when they won in the second match against Syria.
The same number of points was also collected by Iraq who packed one win and one draw. Iraq drew in the last match against Syria as well.
However, Iraq, who qualified as runner-up, accompanied the home team that qualified as group winners with a collection of seven points. Uzbekistan previously defeated Iraq and Syria.
