JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ordered the Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin to find a solution to overcome the lack of specialist and subspecialist doctors in Indonesia.

"Indeed, the problem is that we still have problems in the country, the specialist doctors are still lacking or the subspecialist doctor is still lacking. I have whispered that the Minister of Health must be taken care of," said Jokowi in Bandung, West Java, Monday, March 6.

Jokowi conveyed this when inaugurating Mayapada Hospital Bandung on Jalan Terusan Buah Batu Number 5, Bandung City, West Java.

The head of state said that at least 2 million Indonesians were still going for treatment abroad.

"In fact, we have a hospital like this. Nearly 2 million people, approximately 1 million people to Malaysia, approximately 750 thousand people to Singapore and the rest to Japan, to America to Germany and others. Do we want to continue?" said Jokowi.

From this condition, President Jokowi said that at least Rp165 trillion of foreign exchange was lost.

"Alkes (medical devices) have been, physically it is good, but there are still many that are not good. It must be improved so that hospital services to the community are getting better," he said.

Jokowi also asked Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim to address the problem of medical education.

"I ask the Minister of Health and later I will convey to the Minister of Education and Culture for specialist medical education so that it can be increased and facilitated so that all of our people who are sick can really be handled," he said, confiscated by Antara.

Not to forget, President Jokowi praised Mayapada Hospital Bandung's services.

"I actually wanted to ask the Managing Director of Mayapada Bandung, not only to serve the upper middle class, but BPJS is also served, but it turns out that BPJS is served, there are many there," said Jokowi.

The Mayapada Hospital in Bandung or Mayapada Hospital Bandung (MHBD) has just started operating from Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Mayapada Hospital Bandung applies the concept of a green hospital based on comfort and environmental security. This concept can already be seen from the design of buildings in hospitals by utilizing large windows so that all treatment rooms receive natural lighting from sunlight.

The hospital also uses non-oxic and environmentally friendly materials so that it can reduce carbon emissions in the hospital environment, as well as save electricity and use of water.

Mayapada Hospital Bandung also established Healing Garden, which is an area that aims to allow patients and patient families to self-heal on each floor to facilitate patients or patient families who can be used while waiting for action from medical personnel.
