This Man's Body Can Turn Carbohydrates Into Alcohol, Eating A Slice Of Cake Immediately Drunk Heavy
JAKARTA - A man from Lowestoft, Suffolk, England has an abnormality in his bodily functions. He can get very drunk even if he only ate a piece of cake.
Nick Carson, 62, has automatic brewing syndrome. A disorder that allows the body to convert carbohydrates into alcohol.
This rare condition meant that Carson could easily get drunk even if he didn't touch a drop of alcohol.
Even as he devours his favorite dish, Victoria's sponge cake, he gets drunk to the point of fainting like an alcoholic.
"I could go from icy cold to drunk threefold in a matter of minutes," Carson said as quoted by the Daily Star, Sunday, January 10.
"The effect is unpleasant because I don't remember what I did."
Carson first became aware of the symptoms in 2003. The erratic nature of his condition means he doesn't know where or when he might get drunk and pass out.
For that, he must carry a breathing apparatus at all times.
