BMKG Predicts Cloudy Weather To Light Rain In The Thousand Islands, Location Of The Fall Of The Sriwijaya SJ-182 Airplane
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts cloudy weather to light rain around the waters of Lancang Island and Male Island in the Thousand Islands, the crash site for the Sriwijaya Air plane on the Jakarta-Pontianak route with flight number SJ-182.
Reported by Antara, Sunday, January 10, based on the BMKG weather data report by the Head of the BMKG Maritime Meteorology Analysis and Prediction Sub Division Rismanto Effendi on his official Twitter page, @InfoHumasBMKG, Jakarta, Sunday, the weather in the waters of Lancang Island and Male Island at 07.00-13.00 WIB was thickly cloudy with wind speeds from the west-northwest of 6-12 knots.
The surface current velocity in the eastern part of the waters is 10-30 cm per second. Meanwhile, the wave height of the waters in the morning to noon is 0.5-0.8 meters.
At 13.00-19.00 WIB, the weather at the SJ-182 plane crash site is expected to experience light rain, with wind speeds from west to northwest 6-10 knots, surface currents speed from northeast to east 10-25 cm per second and high waves 0.3 to 0.5 meters.
Likewise, the weather in the area at 19.00-01.00 WIB, which is predicted to experience light rain, with wind speeds in the west is 10-15 knots and surface current velocity from northeast to east is 10-25 cm per second. While the wave height is also estimated to be between 0.3 to 0.5 meters.
In the midst of searching for debris from the crash of Sriwijaya Air flight number SJ 182 in the waters of Pulau Lancang and Pulau Laki, BMKG hopes that the search for victims and the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane will run smoothly.

Previously, the Sriwijaya Air aircraft registered number PK-CLC SJ-182 route Jakarta-Pontianak lost contact on Saturday, January 9 at 14:40 WIB and allegedly crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands between Lancang Island and Laki Island.
The Boeing 737-500 aircraft lost contact at a position 11 nautical miles north of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang after passing an altitude of 11,000 feet and at the time of increasing its altitude at 13,000 feet.
The plane took off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 14:36 WIB. The schedule is delayed from the previous flight schedule at 13.35 WIB. Departure delays due to weather factors.
Based on manifest data, the aircraft produced in 1994 carried 62 people consisting of 50 passengers and 12 crew members. Of these, 40 adults, seven children, three babies. Meanwhile, the 12 crew consists of six active crews and six extra crews.
