Sriwijaya Air SJ-812 Pilot Who Crashed Was A Former Indonesian Air Force Pilot

JAKARTA - The pilot of the Sriwijaya Air SJ 812 aircraft that crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Captain Afwan, was recorded as a pilot for the Indonesian Air Force. While serving, he served as a pilot for two different squadrons.

"Captain Afwan while serving in the Indonesian Air Force served in Air Squadron 4 and Air Squadron 31," Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service Marsma Indan Gilang told reporters, Saturday, January 9.

In addition, this plane also transports families from the Head of the Supadio Airstrip Logistics Service Colonel Ahmad Khaidir. Three family members of the Indonesian Air Force personnel, namely Rahmania Ekananda (wife), Dinda Amelia (child), and Fazila Ammara (child).

Previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route reportedly lost contact at around 14:44 WIB. Furthermore, this plane is confirmed to crash around Lancang Island and Laki Island, Thousand Islands.

Based on data from flightradar24, the Sriwijaya Air plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten at 14.36 WIB and its estimated arrival was scheduled at 15:15 WIB.
