Chronology Of Sriwijaya Air Aircraft That Lost Contact In The Thousand Islands

JAKARTA - The government, through the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi, explained the chronology of the Sriwijaya Air SJ182 aircraft, which is estimated to have lost contact around the Thousand Islands, Jakarta.

In his statement, the Minister of Transportation revealed that the Sriwijaya Air SJY 182 8735 PKCLC plane for the Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta route to Pontianak took off or took off at 14:36 WIB.

"At 14:37 WIB it was still (at an altitude) of 1,700 feet and was allowed to rise to an altitude of 29,000 feet with standard instruments," he said Saturday, January 9, 2020.

Budi added that at 14:40 WIB the monitoring tower in Jakarta found that the Sriwijaya plane was not headed for the predetermined 0.75 degrees, but instead headed to the northwest.

"Therefore, ATC Jakarta asked the plane to report the direction," he said.

Not long after, continued Budi, there was lost contact with Sriwijaya Air SJ182.

"Within seconds (after ATC asked) Sriwijaya Air SJ182 disappeared from radar," said the Minister of Transportation.

For information, the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 flight for the Jakarta-Pontianak route was reported to have lost contact, on Saturday, January 9 at around 14:40 WIB.

Currently, the Indonesian Navy is assisting the Search and Resque (SAR) of the missing Sriwijaya Air aircraft. It was stated that there were a number of ships deployed, such as the KRI Teluk Gili Manuk complete with the Kopaska Team, KRI Kurau, KRI Parang, KRI Teluk Cirebon, KRI Tjiptadi, KRI KRI Cucut-866, KRI Tengiri.

In addition, the Indonesian Navy also deployed two Sea Rider Kopaska and two tugboats, namely TD. Galunggung and Malabar.
