Asked By Jokowi To Discipline His Power Of Power, This Is Sri Mulyani's Answer
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that her party would make improvements according to the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) so that state civil servants can provide good service to the people, stay away from showing off their wealth and power.
"We will fix it according to the direction of the President," said Sri Mulyani briefly to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, after the Plenary Cabinet Session, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 2.
In this Plenary Cabinet Session, President Jokowi mentioned the public's disappointment because of the case of unscrupulous officials and families of former officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise and the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance who often show off assets on social media.
"I read both on the field and on social media because of the incident in taxes and in Customs and Excise, I know very well, following the public's disappointment with our apparatus, with the government," said Jokowi.
Jokowi said that not only tax officers and Customs and Excise, but all government officials and officials in various fields should not show off their wealth and power to the public. If officials often show off their power, property, and provide poor service, then the people can be disappointed.
"Because services are considered not good, then the behavior of the pilgrims and show off their power, then show off their wealth, hedonis," he said.
The President asked ministries and institutions to discipline the apparatus under him. The order was also conveyed to the National Police, the Attorney General's Office, and other legal apparatus.
"Once again I want to emphasize, don't show off your power, don't show off your wealth, let alone be displayed on Instagram, on social media," he said.
Previously, the name of a former RAT tax official surfaced in recent days due to brutal violence by his son, Mario Dandy, against a student named David in South Jakarta. Mario Dandy's violence was recorded in a video and went viral on social media.
The persecution case also revealed Mario Dandy's attitude who often showed off luxury vehicles on social media. It was later discovered that Mario Dandy was the son of an echelon III tax official named Rafael Alun Trisambodo who had assets of up to Rp56 billion.
