Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 Aircraft Crashed In The Thousand Islands, Basarnas Is Still Looking For A Definite Point Of Location
JAKARTA - The National Search and Relief Agency (Basarnas) suspects that the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane crashed after losing contact between Laki Island and Lancang Island, Seribu Islands.
Deputy for Operations and Preparedness of Basarnas Major General TNI Bambang Suryo Aji said that his party received information about the disappearance of the plane at around 14.55 WIB.
"So Basarnas at 14.55 WIB received information that there was a lost contact related to the Sriwijaya aircraft. After we learned, we quickly coordinated with Cengkareng (Soekarno-Hatta Airport, red) and some of the potential that was there and we immediately deployed the defense equipment is at Basarnas, "said Bambang in a press conference broadcast by Kompas TV, Saturday, January 9.
"The ship and searider have already departed after receiving this information. We will go to the location where the plane is suspected to have crashed," he added.
After dispatching its personnel, Basarnas then got some information around the location of the incident which was suspected to be part of the Sriwijaya Air plane.
"The goods are already on our ship and we plan to pull them out and we will open a post at JICT," he said.
Furthermore, Basarnas said that his party would continue to concentrate on finding the location where the plane crashed. Then, the team plans to carry out further searches on Sunday, January 10 morning.
"What is certain is that tomorrow morning we will carry out a search and study," he said.
It was reported earlier that the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route had reportedly lost contact, on Saturday, January 9. This news was later confirmed by the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Novie Riyanto.
"There has been a lost contact with the Sriwijaya aircraft on the Jakarta-Pontianak route with the SJ 182 call sign," Novie said when confirmed by reporters, Saturday, January 9.
He said the aircraft's last contact was made at 14:40 WIB.
Regarding this aircraft, based on data from flightradar24, the Sriwijaya Air plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten at 14.36 WIB and the estimated arrival was scheduled at 15.15 WIB.
