PMI Alerts Personnel And Supporting Equipment To Search For Sriwijaya SJ 182 Aircraft

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has alerted personnel and supporting equipment to assist in the evacuation process of the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft, which reportedly lost contact around the waters of the Thousand Islands, Saturday.

"The personnel involved PMI throughout DKI, the headquarters, PMI Jabodetabek are all prepared," said PMI Secretary General Sudirman Said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 9.

Sudirman said PMI is also coordinating with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

Meanwhile, PMI has also asked all DKI PMIs to have three parties, including PMI South Jakarta, who have also been asked to alert an ambulance and personnel to help search for the Sriwijaya plane that crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands.

"We have alerted one ambulance and four personnel," said Dedet Haryadi, PR of PMI South Jakarta.

Previously, the Ministry of Transportation confirmed that the Sriwijaya Air plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route with flight number SJY 182 lost contact at 14:40 WIB.

The plane with the PK CLC registration number Boeing 737-500 lost contact at a position 11 nautical miles north of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang after passing an altitude of 11,000 feet and at the time of increasing the altitude to 13,000 feet.

Based on initial information, the number of passengers was about 56 people, consisting of 46 adults, seven children and three babies.

The last statement, residents of the regional apparatus in Pari Island, which is not far from Lancang Island, have found pieces of goods, including cables in the water.

The new search was carried out by regional officials assisted by residents and fishermen. There are four ships that are still conducting searches at several points between Lancang Island and Pari Island.
