Sriwijaya Aircraft From Jakarta-Pontianak Route Lost Contact

JAKARTA - The Sriwijaya Air SJY 182 aircraft for the Jakarta-Pontianak route reportedly lost contact, on Saturday, January 9. This news was later confirmed by the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Novie Riyanto.

"There has been a lost contact with the Sriwijaya aircraft on the Jakarta-Pontianak route with the SJY 182 call sign," Novie said when confirmed by reporters, Saturday, January 9.

He said the aircraft's last contact was made at 14:40 WIB.

Furthermore, investigations are underway regarding the disappearance of the plane.

"Currently it is under investigation and being coordinated with Basarnas and KNKT," he said.

"We will provide further information if there are other developments," he added.

Based on data from flightradar24, the Sriwijaya Air plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten at 14.36 WIB and its estimated arrival was scheduled at 15:15 WIB.
