Flandy Limpele's Decision To Withdraw From Cipayung National Training Lowers Polemic, PBSI: Less Fair

JAKARTA - Flandy Limpele's surprising decision was taken. He decided to leave his position at the PBSI National Training Center to join the Hong Kong national team.

In fact, Flandy has only been in his position for a month as the mixed doubles coach of the Cipayung National Training Center. There is news, this is a form of disappointment from Flandy who feels his position is not in accordance with the contract.

Flandy felt he should coach the first team, not Pratama. In addition, there are also problems related to salary.

PP PBSI Daily Chair Alex Tirta said Flandy's decision to leave his position at the national training center (Pelatnas) clearly needed to be respected. However, the decision was considered less elegant.

"Regarding his sudden decision to train to other countries, it feels like it is also unfair. He never informed PBSI in the previous months. Suddenly he secretly accepted the proposal of another country and then just sent a letter of resignation," he added.

Flandy's name was included in the list of PBSI coaches in 2023 after being recruited by the national badminton parent last year. He was given the trust to lead the prime mixed doubles sector so that his decision was surprising.

Alex said that Flandy himself expressed his willingness to become a prime tactician since joining Pelatnas in early 2022. However, there is no commitment regarding the promotion of office to become the main mixed doubles coach to replace Nova Widianto.

"From the start there has never been a conversation or PBSI's promise will attract him as the head coach of the main national training. He may forget. He has also committed and is willing to train young players in the pre-main national training," said Alex.

To move up to the position of being the main coach, a coach must require a process and a time that is not short. At least he needs to prove himself at the pre-main level before receiving consideration from the PBSI management.

Alex explained that the promotion of coach positions at the National Training Center usually had to go through various careful considerations. Moreover, Flendy himself has not been on duty for a year and has not had a great achievement that is proud as a prime mixed doubles coach.

"The reason is, he has not yet proven the results of his poles. There is no big achievement that can be proud to be entrusted with being the head coach of the main national training," said Alex Tirta.

In addition, Alex also gave an explanation regarding the coach's salary. He said that PBSI was committed and programmed to increase wages for all coaches as of January 2023.

Therefore, it is not true that the national badminton parent is considered not committed to the coach's income.

"He seems afraid and doesn't dare to accept the challenge of fostering young players in the mixed doubles sector at the Pratama National Training Center whose challenges are much tougher than training already finished players," said Alex.
