TIKI Supports Electric Vehicle Transition Through Cooperation With SWAP And SMOOT

JAKARTA - PT Citra Van Titipan Lightning (TIKI) announced its cooperation with SWAP, the infrastructure company of the Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Station (SPBKLU), and SMOOT, a battery-based electric motor vehicle manufacturer, in order to support the transition of electric vehicles in Indonesia.

The cooperation includes the installation of 17 SPBKLU SWAP in the TIKI outlet network, as well as the launch of an environmentally friendly TIKI EVS (Electric Vehicle Squad) fleet. The announcement of the cooperation was marked by the inauguration of the SPBKLU at the TIKI Pemuda outlet, and the release of the TIKI EVS fleet based on electric motors that are more environmentally friendly.

This is also the first step for TIKI to transition its operations through lower energy use of emissions. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Yulina Hastuti, President Director of TIKI; Trie Maulana A., Managing Director of TIKI; and Tan Eng Kiong, Chief Operating Officer of SMOOT & SWAP.

Penetration of electric motors in Indonesia continues to show a positive trend. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources estimates that the number of electric motor use in 2030 will reach 13 million units.

This growth must be accompanied by the availability of a wider SPBKLU network with an easy and fast battery replacement system.

"TIKI has a wide distribution network spread throughout Indonesia with 500 representative offices and more than 3,700 outlets. The SPBKLU SWAP installation in these 17 outlet networks is a start to build more strategic collaborations. We are very happy to be able to contribute through our network assets to support the efforts of the government and automotive industry players in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia," said TIKI President Director Yulina Hastuti, in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 1.

Meanwhile, Trie Maulana A, the Managing Director of TIKI added, in addition to developing an electric motorcycle battery exchange station, TIKI is also working with SMOOT in procuring an electric motor fleet as an effort to transition TIKI's operations to environmentally friendly electric vehicles.

"In the early stages, TIKI will operate around 10 TIKI EVS, an electric motorbike made by SMOOT to serve the DKI Jakarta area. TIKI EVS will serve as an example for TIKI's agency partners in the regions to implement the same thing in their area," explained Trie. Furthermore, Tan Eng Kiong, SMOOT & SWAP Chief Operating Officer, said that the enthusiasm of the Indonesian people for SMOOT electric motors continues to increase.

"Since it was first launched in 2021 until now, we have managed to sell around 5000+ units. To support the convenience of consumer mobility, we continue to strive for the availability of the SPBKLU SWAP network through collaboration with partners who already have a qualified track record and a wide network, such as TIKI. This collaboration fulfills our SPBKLU network reaching 1000+ stations," said Tan Eng Kiong.

The way to exchange SWAP batteries is very easy. The entire process starts from knowing the nearest SPBKLU SWAP location, availability of batteries to transactions and payments are made through the SWAP application.

Currently, around 9 out of a total of 17 TIKI outlets have available SPBKLU SWAP facilities, and the rest will gradually be covered by areas including Jabodetabek, Bandung, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Lampung, Balikpapan and Palembang.
