Support For Regional Cadres Starting To Surround Ganjar, PAN No Longer Prioritizes Zulhas For Presidential Candidates 2024

JAKARTA - PAN no longer prioritizes the General Chairperson of PAN Zulkifli Hasan alias Zulhas to be bought up as a presidential candidate in 2024. This is because the flow of support for PAN cadres in the regions has begun to block Ganjar Pranowo's name.

This was emphasized by the Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) of PAN Fikri Yasin after attending the presentation of the results of the National Survey Media (Median) survey in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 28.

"If (prioritizing to be carried as a candidate) the presidential candidate is no longer. (The consideration) Yes, the value of our highest score (support), Ganjar. It is impossible for us to crash into that fact, then we forced (investigating) Bang Zul," he said, "He said that the aspirations of the PAN leadership board in various regions gave rise to a number of names of figures other than Zulhas, but after simulating the name of the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo received the highest support. "We ask for the voices of the regions, to the regions, they convey that. Each region is different, we simulated, the highest in our internal is Ganjar," said Fikri.

Previously, PAN looked at Ganjar Pranowo-Erick Thohir's duet to be promoted in the 2024 presidential election.

This was implied when Zulhas read out a rhyme at the end of his speech at the National Coordination Meeting for the Victory of the PAN Election in Semarang, Central Java, Sunday, February 26. "Let me end my speech at the National Coordination Meeting of PAN. Go to Simpanglima, don't forget to buy spring rolls. If Mr. Ganjar and Mr. Erick are together, God willing, Indonesia will be even more victorious," he said.

Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023. As stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election that meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election of members of the DPR. Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
