ARTPOP is Lady Gaga's third album released in 2013. Even though Gaga had called this album a poetic musical journey where a work of art meets technology, in fact the public's response to this album was mixed. One of them is Helen Brown of The Daily Telegraph thinks ARTPOP is just Gaga's experiment on the two successful previous albums, namely The Fame and The Fame Monster.
In recent months, the ARTPOP album came back to the fore when Gaga decided to remove the song Do What U Want, which was performed by R. Kelly from a digital music service. This decision was motivated by the screening of a documentary entitled Surviving R. Kelly which presented a series of six cases of sexual harassment and allegations of violations by R. Kelly.
This song is no longer part of the ARTPOP tracklist and is not available on the iTunes Store, although the rest of the songs can still be purchased separately. The song Do What U Want is also no longer available on the US Apple Music streaming service and cannot be played through Lady Gaga's official YouTube channel.
However, fans can still stream and purchase an alternative version of the song Do What U Want featuring Christina Aguilera as a duet partner. This collaboration version song with Christina Aguilera was released in December 2013 as a stand-alone single and was not included in the ARTPOP album.
It doesn't stop there, another Gaga collaborator on the ARTPOP album, rapper TI recently made a scene when she said on the Ladies Like Us podcast that she always accompanies her 18-year-old daughter to have her hymen checked with a gynecologist every year. This was done by rappers who worked together on the song Jewels n 'Drugs to ensure that their children were still virgins.
In fact, this action was condemned by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations as medically unnecessary, painful, embarrassing, and traumatic.
Naturally, if Gaga wants to forget about ARTPOP, remembering the many unpleasant things in the album. The case of the two musicians above may be only part of the unpleasant experience he felt. Maybe that's why Gaga then released the album Joanne, an album that is musicalally different from ARTPOP.
Lady Gaga confirmed that she is currently working on her sixth album while doing an Enigma show.
