Require Teachers And Students In Jayapura To Use Noken Every Thursday, Regency Government: So That The Family Economy Is Helped

PAPUA - The Education and Teaching Office of Jayapura Regency, Papua, requires teachers and students to use a noken every Thursday.

Head of the Jayapura Regency Education and Teaching Office Eqberth C Kopeuw said the policy of using the noken since 2022 is to help the economy of native Papuan mothers who have had difficulty marketing their handicrafts.

"It is extraordinary that the Papuan women who are noken craftsmen, some even come to the service to bring a noken and we pay so that the family economy can also be helped," he said in Jayapura, Papua, Tuesday, February 28, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Eqberth, in addition to improving the economy of Papuan mothers, the use of this noken also helped preserve Papuan culture.

"Students are not only taught to empower the economy, but also to preserve culture," he said.

In addition to the policy of using nokens, since being inaugurated in 2022, his party has also routinely made work visits to schools.

"The visit to these schools is to ensure that the teaching and learning process in the new school year goes well," he said again.

He added that visits like this will be routinely carried out every month in order to evaluate the performance and quality of education in Jayapura Regency.
