This Is Minister Sandiaga Uno's Explanation Regarding The Prohibition Of Investors From Building 3 Star Hotels In The Lake Toba Area
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan asked investors to build hotels in the Lake Toba area. However, he asked that there be no 3-star hotel buildings. According to Luhut, the ban on the construction of this 3-star hotel is so that homestay entrepreneurs can continue to thrive.
Responding to this, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the invitation from the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries was to focus first on building 5-star hotels.
This is because 3-star hotels in the Lake Toba area market are already available and managed. "The work from Mr. Luhut is to focus first on 5 stars, here, because in this 3-star there are several hotels that are already established and operational, but 5-star ones are not yet. So, our focus is now on 5-stars," Sandiaga said at the event "The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno", Monday, February 27.
Sandiaga said, as of today there are no international-class 5-star hotels in the Lake Toba area, and this was questioned by the participants of F1 Powerboat.
"We need more available accommodation in Lake Toba, especially if we want to initiate international-scale events. 5-star hotels are a must," he said.
However, said Sandiaga, the homestay on Lake Toba which is offered per night of IDR 350 thousand must also be improved in quality, so that visiting guests can still feel a better level of service in the future.
"We will continue to coordinate, but we clearly need an international standard hotel in the Lake Toba area, including a live on board. There are several live on boards that we encourage to operate immediately, because this can overcome the scarcity of rooms (such as) in Labuan Bajo," he added.
