Kompolnas Proposes 2 Three Star Generals Candidates To Replace Chief Of Police

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Mahfud MD has sent two recommended names to fill the position of Chief of Police to replace General Idham Azis. The two names will be directly selected by President Joko Widodo and will be asked for approval through the DPR.

"That's right, Pak Benny Mamoto and Pak Wahyudanto from Kompolnas explain that as Chairman of the National Police I have submitted the names of candidates for the National Police Chief to be elected by the president to be submitted to the DPR," said Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD quoted on his Twitter account, Friday, January 8.

However, Mahfud did not name the two recommended generals. He only called them the rank of commissioner general.

"All 3-star generals have submitted, none of which are still 2-star," he said.

Confirming various reports: it is true that Pak Benny Mamoto and Pak Wahyudanto from the National Police Commission have submitted the names of candidates for the National Police Chief to be chosen by the President to be submitted to the DPR. All 3 star generals have submitted, none are still 2 stars.

The National Police Exchange is currently in the spotlight. This is because General Idham Azis will soon enter retirement. There is much speculation about the names that are predicted to replace him.

Idham Aziz served as the National Police Chief after being inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on November 1, 2019. He will retire in January 2021 after becoming the number one person in the National Police for approximately one year and two months.
