Din Syamsudin Calls The Late Prof. Ali Yafie As The Faksih Ulama Figure
JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Din Syamsuddin remembers the figure of KH. Prof. Ali Yafie as a scholar who is rich or has broad Islamic knowledge insight. Prof. Ali Yafie served as General Chair of MUI for the 1990-2000 period, he died at the age of 96 on Saturday, February 25, evening, at 22.13 WIB to be exact.
"Indonesian people, especially Muslims, have lost a clerical figure KH. Prof. Ali Yafie. As an MUI Secretary at that time I witnessed that the deceased was a ulama who were in fact, had broad Islamic knowledge insights," said Din in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday, February 26th
He added that the deceased was also a scholar who was fluent in explaining the socio-political realities of the people or nation.
"In addition, he has a firm attitude in the principles of istiqamah and trust," he said.
Din conveyed KH. Prof. Ali Yafie has been sick for a long time at an advanced age. Hopefully the pain has become a means of reducing sins.
"Allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa'afihi wa'fu. I haven't had time to visit him and visit the funeral home, because I was in Oran, Algeria, to attend a conference," he said.
KH. Prof. Ali Yafie served as Rais Aam, the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board in 1991-1992.
The body of the deceased will be taken to the funeral home at the Menteng Residence Complex, Jalan Menteng V Blok FC 5 No 12, Sector 7 Bintaro Jaya.
The plan is for the deceased to be buried on Sunday, February 26, 2023 after the Dzuhur prayer at the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery, South Jakarta.
The late KH Ali Yafie was treated on Monday (13/2), due to lung and heart disorders. After being treated for several days, Kiai Ali Yafie's condition was reported to have improved when he was visited by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the Chairman of the MUI Advisory Council, Prof. KH Ma ruf Amin, Thursday (16/2).
