JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has inaugurated the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section II, Saturday, February 25. The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo hopes that the 16.01 kilometer toll road can solve the problem of traffic jams and tidal flooding in the Pantura Sayung area, Demak.

"Hopefully it can function properly, because this toll road was built in order to unravel congestion and resolve problems related to tidal flooding in this area," said Ganjar in a press release received by VOI, Saturday, February 25.

Not only that, the Semarang-Demak Toll Road is expected to integrate strategic areas. For example, industrial areas, tourism areas, ports, and airports.

"The president asked the local government to start governors, regents, mayors to take advantage of this toll road by preparing road access to economic sources. That way, this toll road can really benefit," he explained.

Ganjar also mentioned the issue of land acquisition in the toll road project. During the inauguration, there were several residents who submitted complaints to the president.

"We are happy and grateful because President Jokowi is extraordinary. He met representatives of the people who were not satisfied. Earlier he was met and President Jokowi said it would be resolved. Hopefully, people can communicate well," he concluded.

The inauguration of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road section II was carried out directly by President Joko Widodo, accompanied by Governor Ganjar Pranowo and the Regent of Demak, Eisti'anah. The inauguration was marked by pressing the siren button by President Jokowi.

"Alhamdulillah, this afternoon the Semarang-Demak toll road Section II of the Sayung Demak Section has been completed and is ready to operate. This toll road is 16.01 km long with a budget of IDR 5.9 trillion," said Jokowi.

Jokowi asked the local government to immediately connect and integrate this toll road with industrial areas in its area. So that the existence of this toll road can provide speed benefits, both for logistics transportation, as well as carrying processed products.

"This toll road is also a sea embankment, so that in the future it will be further away and the level is getting higher to the mainland due to climate change being a little prevented by this toll road," he concluded.
