Reject Joining The Change Coalition, NasDem Response: Not Planning To Invite PDIP Support Anies

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party responded to the statement by the Secretary General (Sekjen) of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto, who refused to form a coalition with the Coalition of Amendments. The reason is that the coalition formed by NasDem, Democrats and PKS carries Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024. NasDem also emphasized that he had no plans to invite PDIP to join the Change Coalition that supports Anies. "If PDIP does not want to form a coalition with us, then we have no plans to invite PDIP (supporting Anies, ed)," said Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party Ahmad Ali, when confirmed, Saturday, February 25. The reason, continued Ali, was because the Joint Amendment Coalition of NasDem, Democrats and PKS had met the threshold for presidential and vice president nomination (presidential threshold) of 20 percent.

"Alhamdulillah, to this day the conditions to eradicate Anies have been met," said Ali.

Nevertheless, Ali admitted that he had no problem with Hasto's statement. Because according to him, support for the presidential and vice presidential candidates is the right of every political party. Therefore, added Ali, NasDem does not want to interfere in the affairs of other parties regarding who will be supported in the 2024 presidential election.

"The conditions for a coalition are the right of each party, the right of each party to do that. We must not interfere in that," said Ali.

Previously, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto stated that it was impossible for his party to join the Coalition for Amendments filled with NasDem, Democrats and PKS. PDIP, he said, would form a coalition with political parties that did not carry Jokowi's antithesa presidential candidate.

"So we are clearly different from NasDem, Democrat, PKS, who carried Mr. Anies Baswedan," said Hasto at the PDIP Party School, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 23.

Hasto explained that Anies' leadership in DKI Jakarta had shown that there was no continuity of policy with Jokowi. Therefore, according to him, Anies will not continue Jokowi's policy when he is elected President.

"Even from the governor, it is antithesis, many of Pak Jokowi's policies have not been continued. Moreover, the policies will be for the bigger ones. Because this politics starts from a smaller thing," said Hasto.
