Burning Of Planes And Shooting Of Heli In Papua Become KKB Scenarios For National Civil Strike Design
JAKARTA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw said armed groups to separatists in Papua were planning a massive action on January 10-12.
The scenario that was drawn up ahead of the so-called 'national civil strike' involved the burning of planes and the shooting of a helicopter belonging to PT Freeport Indonesia in Tsinga Village, Tembagapura District, Mimika, Wednesday, January 6.
"The burning incident of the MAF aircraft in Intan Jaya and the shooting of the helicopter are all related. From the results of monitoring through our means, it is true that they are planning an action this January 10-11. The KKB is also supported by other separatist groups in the city and its surroundings to carry out the implementation action, "said Paulus in Timika as quoted by Antara, Friday, January 8.
The Papua Police, emphasized Paulus, had collaborated with all elements of power in the region to respond to this action. Officers will be deployed at several points that are considered vulnerable.
"We have anticipated it at several points, especially in Tembagapura and its surroundings, and in some areas we have concentrated our strength," he explained.
The burning of planes and the shooting of helicopters, according to him, were deliberately created, showing the existence of Papuan separatist groups in the eyes of the international community. Especially, countries that have supported the struggle to release Papua from the Republic of Indonesia.
"Those are movements that they deliberately created to show the world or supporting countries that they still exist and there is still political activity and so on. Later the plan is for them to hold a civil strike where all activities will be stopped," he explained.
The TNI and Polri apparatus as well as all the forces in Papua, said Paulus, would not have allowed the 'national civil strike' to occur.
"So yesterday there was a small group that had aspirations to reject Otsus, we suppressed it or extinguished it at the starting points so that they did not come together to form one, which then created their desire to carry out this civil strike," he said.
He also asked all parties to cooperate in anticipating the disruption of Kamtibmas. particularly in areas that are difficult to reach or isolated. TNI and police forces find it difficult to reach the location.
"What we need to be aware of is especially in hamlets, villages and districts whose locations are difficult to reach because our strength cannot be extended to those areas," he said.
