DPR Thinks That The Java-Bali PPKM Supports The Success Of COVID-19 Vaccination

JAKARTA - The policy of limiting community activities (PPKM) in the Java-Bali region from 11 to 25 January 2021 is the right step.

Deputy Chairman of the DPR, Coordinating Political and Security Affairs, Azis Syamsuddin, said that this policy supports the vaccination program and creates herd immunity in Indonesia.

"The central government and local governments synergize so that local governments can issue implementing regulations in the form of Regional Regulations (Perda) to support PPKM, so that PPKM runs effectively and efficiently in reducing the growth rate of COVID-19 cases," said Azis Syamsuddin as quoted by Antara, Friday, 8 January.

He asked the regional government to cooperate and support PPKM and issue implementing regulations to support the policy. According to him, the regional government must also be able to work together with the TNI and police to increase supervision in its implementation.

"Make sure the public obeys the rules, runs health protocols, and provides strict sanctions for violators," he said.

He explained that the COVID-19 vaccine has been distributed to a number of regions in Indonesia and is just waiting for the Emergency Use of Authorization from BPOM and also halal certification from MUI.

According to him, the spike in COVID-19 cases will hamper the success of the government's vaccination program so that PPKM is the right step to support the vaccination program and create herd immunity in Indonesia.

"Stay alert and continue to apply high discipline, hopefully the government's vaccination program can run effectively and efficiently and can immediately suppress the spike in COVID-19 cases," he said.
