33 Vehicles Confiscated From 14 Suspects Of Theft In Sukabumi, Residents Lost Were Advised To Report Police

JABAR - The police confiscated 33 motorbikes and cars from 14 suspected thefts in several locations in Sukabumi Regency, West Java (West Java).

"We have arrested 14 suspects from six cases of theft and fraud/darkening of motorized vehicles and criminals," said Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Maruly Pardede in Sukabumi, West Java, Friday, February 24, as reported by Antara.

According to Maruly, the confiscated vehicles included 29 motorbikes and four cars. For the mode of motor vehicle theft carried out by the suspect by targeting motorbikes parked in any place and some breaking into the victim's house.

In carrying out the action, they broke the ignition key of the motorcycle using the letter T key.

For the evidence confiscated from the perpetrators of motor vehicle theft as many as 27 motorcycles.

Then for cases of fraud or embezzlement, the suspect's modus operandi was to pretend to borrow and there was also a rental method in fact the vehicle was taken away.

From the hands of the perpetrators of fraud or embezzlement, evidence was confiscated of two motorcycles and four cars.

Dozens of suspects were arrested at different locations, namely in Palabuhanratu, Cisolok, Nagrak, Jampangtengah and Cicurug sub-districts.

"Some of the suspects we arrested were recidivists and one suspect in the theft of a motorized vehicle was forced by us to " GIVE" hot lead on his calf for resisting and running when he was about to be arrested by officers in the Cisolok sub-district," he added.

Maruly said that his party is currently still developing the case.

The perpetrators of the theft were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft, then for fraud/embezzlement perpetrators were charged with Article 372 concerning Embezzlement and Article 378 concerning Fraud.

Meanwhile, the suspect who is a collector is charged under Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning Detention. The suspects face a minimum prison sentence of five years.

He appealed to people who feel that they have lost their motorized vehicles to come directly to the Sukabumi Police Headquarters, Palabuhanratu District by bringing evidence of ownership of these vehicles such as STNK and BPKB.

After adjusting the engine number and frame, residents or victims can return to bring their vehicles without being charged a penny.
