Pamer Officials Of Luxury Life, Vice President: Can Lose Community Trust
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that the attitude of state officials who show off their luxurious lifestyle can cause a loss of public trust.
This was conveyed by the Vice President in response to reports about a luxurious lifestyle from an official from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) and his family who received a lot of public criticism.
"There should not be public distrust, especially those who pay taxes to the government, then they begin, they become distrust because the taxes paid are used by each person. I think that's important," said the Vice President, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 24.
Like the press release received in Jakarta, the Vice President conveyed that a simple lifestyle is important to be applied at all levels of people's lives, so that the eruptions triggered by the social gap can be minimized.
"Regarding simple life problems, I think it should be the lifestyle of officials from above to below, don't let life be (exceededed)," the Vice President urged.
On the same occasion, the Vice President also expressed his support for the quick and decisive actions taken by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani in responding to this incident in her ranks.
"I think the actions of the Minister (Financial) are correct, yes, if there are officials who show off hedonis's life, they need to be reminded," said the Vice President.
"People's trust is important. That's why if there are (luxury lifestyle officials), the Minister's actions are very appropriate," he added.
Closing the press statement, the Vice President advised, as an effort to maintain public trust in the government, especially in the field of finance and taxes, it is necessary to have transparency and literacy about the use of tax funds that are appropriate to be implemented for the benefit of the people.
"The tax that has been paid by the community is indeed used for community services, what are schools, roads, infrastructure, social assistance, and all for the benefit of the community," explained the Vice President.
