Health Protocol Decreased, Minister Of Home Affairs Tito: The Community And Supervisory Officers Are Both Saturated

JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, acknowledged that there was a decrease in compliance with the current health protocol discipline. Thus, the number of new COVID-19 cases is increasing. In fact, new cases on Thursday, January 7 reached 9,321 cases.

According to Tito, the weak implementation of health protocols is due to the fact that the public and officers who supervise health protocols are both tired.

"Maybe the people are bored because they have been undergoing the same (activity restriction) for a long time. I think officers may also have a saturation point," said Tito at the Ministry of Home Affairs office, Friday, January 8.

In addition, said Tito, the public also thought that the easing of restrictions such as the transitional PSBB made them even more negligent in preventing the transmission of the corona virus.

Therefore, in implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM) on the islands of Java and Bali on January 11-25, Tito said that enforcement of health protocol surveillance would be increased again.

This was stated in the Minister of Home Affairs Instruction Number 1 of 2021 which was signed by Tito on Thursday, January 7. This instruction is addressed to all regional heads who will undergo austerity in Java and Bali.

"That's why it was formally re-awakened through an Instruction from the Minister of Home Affairs. This instruction is not based on my own decision. It is a formal means of the results of a meeting with the three coordinating ministers," said the former Chief of Police.

Tito also reminded the sanctions that would apply if the community violated the rules of the health protocol, ranging from fines, social work, to criminal threats.

"Large crowds of others who violate the Infectious Disease Law, can be convicted by the Police. If they violate regional regulations or regional head regulations, the penalty can be from Satpol PP," he concluded.
