Instruction Of The Minister Of Home Affairs On Service Of Confucian Peoples In Civil Registry In History Today, February 24, 2006
JAKARTA History today, 17 years ago, February 24, 2006, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Mohammad Maruf issued instructions to all his staff to sincerely serve all administrative needs of the Confucian people. He wants all his staff to serve the community indiscriminately.
Previously, the government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) had committed to maintaining unity and integrity in Indonesia. The power-owner considers there is no place for those who hate diversity.
Diversity is often considered as the location of the greatness of the Indonesian nation. That fact has existed since time immemorial. All kinds of ethnic groups and religions can live side by side in peace. However, the political conditions have disturbed peace several times. Era of the New Order (Orba), for example.
The presence of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), which is considered the mastermind of the September 30th Movement (G30S) in 1965, is the estuary. The identity of the communists is believed to have been imported from China. As a result, all kinds of ethnic Chinese life are limited because they are considered to have links to communists. Those who embrace the Confucian religion, let alone.
Everything changed when Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Megawati, and SBY served as Indonesia's number one person. The names have a big role in restoring Indonesia's fitrah as a peaceful country.
Era SBY, moreover. His commitment to maintaining diversity was inflamed when he was officially inaugurated as President of Indonesia on October 20, 2004. He expressed his commitment to continue to maintain Indonesian unity and integrity. Even though the test to lead Indonesia is getting bigger.
For a large nation, the more tests that burden it will be higher in toughness, and the greater the trials it experiences will be stronger in faith. The heavier it will be hit by storms, the stronger the sense of solidarity will be. The more challenged the sense of nationality will be stronger the sense of unity. Let us prove and build our greatness as a nation.
"God willing, with our togetherness and hard work, we will be able to realize. Indonesia's condition that I want to be balik: I want to be safe, I'll be fair, I'll be prosperous. My fellow waterents, With a spacious chest and unanimous belief, today we are opening a new page in the history of the Indonesian nation. Now is the time for us to meet dawn," said SBY in his speech at his inauguration at the MPR/DPR Building, October 20, 2004.
Several years later, President SBY's commitment was adopted by Minister of Home Affairs Mohammad Ma ruf by making a historic policy. Maruf issued the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs numbered SE 470/336/SJ on February 24, 2006.
The instruction stated the government's commitment to maintaining diversity between religious communities. Maruf then appealed to all the Population Service to the Civil Registry Office to serve all kinds of administrative affairs of the Confucian people. Everything is to realize the ideals of the Indonesian nation as a great nation. It is also a form of the government standing above all groups.
On February 24, 2006, the Minister of Home Affairs issued a circular saying that he ordered all Population Offices, Civil Registry Offices, as well as those located under the coordination of the Ministry of Home Affairs including offices, sub-districts, sub-districts, and even heads of RT/RW to serve residents (religions) of Confucians who wish to have a family card, identity card, and register their weddings.
Since the circular, the existence of the Confucian religion has been officially recognized in population administration. Both in identity cards, family cards, and marriage registration. Reportedly in several areas this circular letter was immediately applied, written in the book After Dry Water: Chinese Post-institutes May 1998 (2010).
