Jokowi Believes Investors Will Be Interested To The Atmosphere Of IKN
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believes investors will be interested in investing in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan.
"Very strong (attraction), the atmosphere is different, we offer an atmosphere. This core area is the government area, but outside of that, people will see the atmosphere," said President Jokowi while visiting the IKN's Central Government Core Area (KIPP), East Kalimantan, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 23.
Jokowi explained that areas outside KIPP IKN will have a different atmosphere and offer a different experience. This, he said, would attract investors to flock to IKN.
"There is a difference, what is different, that's what we sell, experience, ambience," said Jokowi.
IKN was built by the Government of Indonesia with the concept of a green city, a smart and modern city. The government is also building a nursery facility in Mentawir with a production capacity of approximately 20 million plant seeds per year, which is expected to support the IKN's environmentally friendly concept.
For connectivity in the early stages, the government is starting the construction of a toll road from Balikpapan to KIPP IKN which will cut the travel time to only 30 minutes.
President Jokowi emphasized that investors need not doubt the prospects for the new capital city. The physical development of IKN, he said, had started and continued to make good progress.
Jokowi believes that on August 17, 2024, the government will be able to hold a flag ceremony to commemorate Indonesia's Independence Day at the Presidential Palace at IKN.
"If you look at the landscape and others, earlier I have spoken with the designers, implementers in the field, supervision in the field, managers in the field, I am optimistic, God willing, it will be finished," he said.

According to Jokowi, if the physical development at the IKN has been completed, then the transfer of human resources (HR) within the government environment will be carried out immediately.
In line with that, the government will also build social and environmental infrastructure such as educational institutions, shopping centers, entertainment centers, and health facilities in IKN.
“(Each) has been occupied. Every ministry (building) too, although not all of the staff were brought in. So that there is a crowd here, if there is a crowd it means we need restaurants, schools, from kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, and university, we need hospitals, clinics, we need entertainment, malls, and others," he said.
