COVID-19 Cases Jump Up To Fourfold, The Mayor Of Balikpapan Orders A Lockdown
BALIKPAPAN - The 4-fold increase in the spread of COVID-19 cases in early 2021 has made the Mayor of Balikpapan, Rizal Effendi, order social restrictions (lockdowns) in sub-districts and sub-districts with a high number of infected citizens.
"I immediately ask the sub-district head, village head, to coordinate with the sub-district leadership meeting (Muspika), with community leaders, to implement a limited lockdown in their environment," said Mayor Rizal Effendi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 7.
Based on data from the Balikpapan City COVID-19 Handling Task Force, East Kalimantan, all sub-districts returned to the red zone. The highest was North Balikpapan District with 252 positive cases and South Balikpapan District 244 positive cases.
Then Balikpapan City District with 148 positive cases. Central Balikpapan Subdistrict has 122 positive cases, and West Balikpapan District there are 82 positive cases and East Balikpapan District has 69 positive cases.
This local restriction or lockdown will take the form of limiting residents' activities and time, re-tightening the discipline of health protocols such as maintaining distance between people and diligently washing hands. The obligation to wear a mask when doing activities outside the home was reiterated.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force said, there were an additional 121 new positive cases with 4 deaths.
Of that number, there were an additional 41 confirmed positive cases with a history of suspicion, including elderly people aged 80 and 79 years, also a girl aged 9 years and 2 cases from outside the region.
There were an additional 32 positive confirmed cases with a history of people without symptoms (OTG), including a boy aged 8 years and 7 cases from outside the region.
Then the addition of 43 confirmed positive cases with a history of tracing, namely boys aged 3 years, 5 years, 12 years, and 15 years. Also girls aged 8 years, 12 years and 2 residents outside the region.
There were an additional 2 cases confirmed positive with a history of tracing cases at work and 3 positive cases with a history of positive rapid antigen.
Also recorded 4 patients died, they were male 51 years, 69 years, 55 years, and 73 years. However, the number of recovered patients is also quite large. There are 55 patients who have finished their treatment period, namely 14 patients from Pertamina Hospital and 54 patients independently isolated.
