In the video, the perpetrator drives a stolen car recklessly on the highway.Head of Sub-Directorate 3 Jatanras Polda Sumsel Kompol Agus Prihardinika said the theft was carried out by a student with the initials KDS (20), a resident of Alam Barajo, Jambi Province.The suspect KDS was arrested by personnel from Sub-Directorate 3 Jatanras on Jalan Lintas Timur Sumatra, Palembang-Jambi section KM 42 Banyuasin Regency, on Tuesday night at around 23.00 WIB.“Yang viral itu kasus pencurian. Saat itu tersangka dikejar oleh massa karena membawa mobil hasil curi ugal-ugalan. Dia (KDS) sempat diamankan Pos Turjakwali Satlantas Polres Banyuasin. Menerima laporan itu yang bersangkutan kami amankan ke Polda Sumsel,” kata dia kepada wartawan di Palembang, Antara, Rabu, 22 Februari.According to Agus, investigators from Unit 3 Sub-Directorate 3, Jatanras Polda Sumsel, the suspect admitted that the car he was driving was stolen which was then suspected of being taken to Jambi.The Pajero Sport Dakar car with police number BG—1947 —NO belongs to a resident with the initials TM who was reported missing in the church parking lot as reported by LP/B/386/II/2023/SPKT/Palembang Polrestabes/POLDA South Sumatra, February 19, 2023."The car was stolen in the church parking lot, the theft was carried out alone on Sunday (15/2) and then reported to the police (19/2)," he said.The evidence of the stolen car was secured at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters, in a state of destruction at the front and right and left side due to the tantrum of the angry mob for driving recklessly by the suspect.He explained that the theft had been planned by the KDS suspect a few days before carrying out the action.At that time, he continued, the KDS perpetrator was invited by his family to visit the victim's house on Jalan Kesucian 3, Alang-alang Lebar Palembang."Well, at the victim's house, he secretly exchanged the remote key for the victim's car contact with the remote car ignition that he had prepared," he said.For his actions, the suspect was charged with violating Article 363 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for one year.
