JAKARTA - North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi revealed that there are six regions that have the highest contributor to COVID-19 cases in the province.

Among others, Medan City, Deli Serdang Regency, Pematangsiantar City, Simalungun Regency, Binjai City and Serdang Bedagai Regency.

"The six regions with the highest number of residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 in North Sumatra are Medan City, Deli Serdang Regency, Pematangsiantar City, Simalungun Regency, Binjai City and Serdang Bedagai Regency," said Edy during a video conference with regents and mayors throughout North Sumatra. , at the Home of the Governor of North Sumatra, Medan, reported by Antara, Thursday, January 7.

For this reason, he asked all leaders of each region to strengthen contact tracing (tracing) of the confirmed COVID-19 cases.

He said the indicator of strengthening contact tracing was that at least 80 percent of confirmed cases were contact tracing and the origin of the cluster was known. Then, 90 percent of confirmed and suspected cases were isolated within 48 hours of the first symptoms.

Then, less than 80 percent of new cases with close contacts were isolated in less than 72 hours, and less than 80 percent of contacts from new confirmed cases were monitored for 14 days.

"Contact tracing was carried out on 36 close contacts from one confirmed COVID-19 case," said Edy Rahmayadi.

Based on data from the North Sumatra COVID-19 Handling Task Force, the number of confirmed cases on January 7, 2021 for Medan City was 9,096 cases, Deli Serdang Regency 2,273 cases.

Then, Pematangsiantar City with 589 cases, Simalungun 560 cases, Binjai City with 410 cases and Serdang Bedagai Regency with 366 cases.
